RIVERSIDE RANCH

When Don Ruggles, Melissa Mabe and I first visited this hay ranch and WW1-era potato farm bordering the Roaring Fork River, we knew we had a singular opportunity to not only create a homestead but to inspire daily life for the owners. Taking design cues from the colonial-era farmhouses of Pennsylvania, this home’s restrained exterior materials, rectangular footprint and simple roof lines allowed us to create a home that is not only beautiful in its simplicity but economical to build.
